Pick your setup
Every step up adds more control over how the bike rides. Here's how the options compare, from a quick stance change to a fully adjustable setup.
Fork springs & lowering kits
Progressive-wound fork springs firm up a soft front end, and bolt-on lowering kits change the stance without replacing the shocks.
- Keeps your stock shocks
- Lowest cost
- Sets ride height
Rear shocks
New rear shocks are the biggest ride-quality change you can make. Choose the length for your stance and the spring rate for your weight.
- Standard or heavy-duty springs
- Multiple lengths
- Preload adjustable
Fork cartridge kits
Cartridge kits replace the stock fork internals for controlled damping and less brake dive, so the front end keeps up with the rear.
- Drop-in cartridges
- Standard, lowered or +2" options
- Pairs with new rear shocks
Reservoir shocks & air ride
Remote-reservoir and piggyback shocks add damping adjustment for hard riding and heavy loads. Air ride lets you change ride height from the handlebar.
- Damping adjustment
- Built for two-up and loaded bikes
- Air ride height on demand

Know your platform, pick a length and match the spring to your weight. These are the questions our techs ask first.
Which platform is my bike?
Suspension is platform-specific. Match your model and year first, then check fitment on the product page.
| Platform | Years / notes |
|---|---|
| Touring '14-up | 49 mm forks, twin rear shocks |
| Touring '13 & earlier | 41 mm forks, twin rear shocks |
| Softail '18-up | M8 frame, single monoshock under the seat |
| Softail '17 & earlier | Twin shocks under the frame |
| Dyna | '91-'17, twin rear shocks |
| Sportster | '04-'22 and earlier models listed separately |
Length & stance
Shock length sets ride height. A shorter shock lowers the bike but gives up travel, so it will bottom sooner on rough roads.
If you ride two-up or loaded, stay closer to stock length. The length is in every product title.
Standard or heavy-duty?
Standard springs suit most solo riders. Heavy-duty springs are for two-up riding, heavier riders or a bike that's usually loaded.
Not sure which one? Send us your weight and how you ride and we'll point you to the right rate.
Front & rear together
New rear shocks make the biggest difference on their own. Adding a fork cartridge kit balances the bike so both ends work together.
Lowering the rear? Lower the front to match so the bike keeps its handling.
Common questions
What length shock do I need?
Stock length keeps your current ride height. Go shorter to lower the bike, knowing you give up some travel. Send us your year and model if you're unsure what's on it now.
Should I get standard or heavy-duty springs?
Standard for most solo riders. Heavy-duty if you ride two-up, carry a lot of gear or are a bigger rider. The product page lists what each one is built for.
Will lowering my bike hurt the ride?
Less travel means it can bottom out sooner. A quality lowering shock rides far better than a worn stock one, but the lower you go, the more it matters.
Do I need to do the front and rear together?
No. Most riders start with rear shocks. A fork cartridge kit or springs can be added later to finish the job.
How do I know it fits my bike?
Use the bike buttons at the top of this page, then check the year range in the title. Still unsure? Send us your year and model before you order.
Can you install it?
Yes. Suspension installs are done in our Anaheim shop.
