Build your stage
Most Harley builds follow the same path. Pick where you are today and we'll point you to the parts for the next step. Every stage needs a matching tune.
Intake, exhaust & tune
The first step on almost every bike. A high-flow air cleaner and exhaust, with fuel dialed in to match.
- High-flow air cleaner
- Slip-ons or full system
- Tuner or fuel module
Camshafts & support
A bolt-in cam is where the motor starts to feel different. Plan the lifters, pushrods and oiling at the same time.
- Bolt-in cam kit
- Adjustable pushrods & lifters
- Cam plate & oil pump
Big bore & pistons
More cubic inches through bigger cylinders and pistons, usually paired with a cam from Stage 2 and upgraded head gaskets.
- Big bore cylinder kit
- Pistons & rings
- Head & base gaskets
Heads, stroker or crate
Performance heads and valvetrain, a stroker bottom end, or skip the build and drop in a complete S&S engine.
- Cylinder heads & springs
- Flywheels & rods
- Complete crate engine

Know your engine, plan the supporting parts, and budget for the tune. These are the questions our techs ask first.
Which engine do I have?
Parts are almost always engine-specific. Match your year first, then check fitment on the product page.
| Engine | Years |
|---|---|
| Milwaukee-Eight | Touring '17-up, Softail '18-up (107 / 114 / 117 / 121) |
| Twin Cam | '99-'17 Big Twin (88 / 96 / 103 / 110) |
| Evolution | '84-'99 Big Twin (80) |
| Sportster (Evo) | '86-'21 (883 / 1200) |
| Shovelhead | '66-'84 Big Twin |
Cams need support
A cam swap is more than the cams. Plan on lifters, adjustable pushrods, cam bearings and gaskets, and check whether your cam plate and oil pump are up to the job.
On Twin Cam, higher-lift cams often call for upgraded valve springs and a hydraulic cam chain tensioner or gear-drive conversion.
Oil pressure & heat
Bigger motors make more heat. A high-volume oil pump keeps pressure up, and an oil cooler helps in stop-and-go traffic.
Add an oil pressure gauge so you can see what the motor is doing after the build, not just guess.
Tuning & emissions
Every stage changes how much air the motor moves, so the fuel map needs to change too. Budget for a tuner and a dyno or street tune.
Some parts are marked Race Only or 49-State. Check your state's emissions rules before ordering, especially in California.
Common questions
Do I need a tuner after a cam or big bore kit?
Yes. Changing the cam or displacement changes airflow, and the stock map won't match. Running without a tune can make the motor run lean and hot.
Chain drive or gear drive cams on a Twin Cam?
Every Twin Cam is chain drive from the factory. Gear drive conversions remove the chains and tensioners, but need gear-drive cams and a support plate that match your year.
Should I replace the oil pump with the cams?
While the cam chest is open it's the easiest time to do it. Many riders pair a cam upgrade with a high-volume pump or a complete cam plate and pump kit.
Long block vs. complete engine?
A long block usually ships without some parts, like the intake, ignition or charging system, so you reuse or add your own. A complete engine includes more of what you need to run.
How do I know a part fits my bike?
Use the engine buttons at the top of this page, then check the year range in the product title. Still unsure? Send us your year and model before you order.
Can you install it?
Yes. Cam swaps, big bore kits, oil pumps and crate engine installs are done in our Anaheim shop, with the tune to match.
Fitment checked before it ships
Send us the year, model and what's already in the motor, and we'll confirm the parts before the order goes out.
