All right, stay tuned for some great information about the Diamond Audio radio line.

Today, I've got Ryan F. from Diamond Audio here to go over some of the great features and why these Diamond Audio radios are so awesome.

Brian, thanks so much for coming out. I enjoy having you here!

Ryan: "Yep, absolutely!"

Can you give me a little background on your role in this radio and what you do at Diamond Audio?

Ryan: "Sure! I’m the West Coast Regional for Diamond Audio. I’m also the product development manager and product designer for all Motorsports products, including motorcycle, marine, and beyond."

Yeah, and I know you certainly know a lot about it because you're the main guy not only involved in making these radios but also out at the shows, seeing real-time situations and solutions firsthand.

Ryan: "One of the things I really pride myself on is being out there, getting my hands dirty. I do installs myself."

That’s actually where we met, right?

Ryan: "Exactly! When I build this product, I use input from you guys and the community—as well as my own experiences—to engineer a product that I know is going to work and make things easier."

And that’s great foresight on your part.

Ryan: "Yeah, I design with all the features you need and nothing you don’t."

The MSH-HD14 Radio

Let’s open this up.

Ryan: "Sure! This is the MSH-HD14 for 2014 and up Harley-Davidson Touring models, including the Street Glide and Road Glide.

The first thing you'll notice is the factory fit. It has a factory form factor, so once installed, it looks completely stock—you can’t tell it’s an aftermarket radio."

So no cutting or modifications needed?

Ryan: "Correct! The chassis design is exactly the same as the factory radio, with the same four-bolt mounting system and factory Harley connector. There’s no intermediate harnesses needed."

One of the first things I noticed was the heat sink on the back.

Ryan: "Yep! We designed it that way because this radio has a high-powered amplifier built in. Amplifiers create heat, and heat is the killer of all electronics.

If you're riding in 120-degree temperatures, we wanted to make sure this radio won’t shut off due to overheating."

That’s absolutely essential.

Ryan: "Exactly. We also packed this with DSP (Digital Signal Processing), high-powered RCA outputs, and factory connectors for USB and FM antennas.

We've included AM/FM radio and Weather Band, which is an industry first for an aftermarket Harley radio."

That’s a great feature, especially for long-distance riders who want to check the weather ahead.

Ryan: "Absolutely! Another big difference is that there’s no Maestro module connection—because the Maestro module is built into the radio."

That’s awesome! I’ve seen a lot of Maestro modules fail due to water damage inside the fairing, and they’re not covered under warranty.

Ryan: "Right! That’s why we integrated it into the chassis—it’s now completely waterproof, inside and out."

That’s smart. Now, let's talk about all the blue wires coming off the back.

Accessory Control & Integration

Ryan: "All these blue wires are auxiliary outputs (1 through 6). These are Maestro programmable outputs (MPOs), allowing you to control accessories like:

  • Air ride (up/down controls)
  • Electronic kickstands
  • LED lights, fog lights, or driving lights

With our setup, you can program these in two ways:

  1. Assign a custom icon on the touchscreen as a button.
  2. Program them to a hand control button (e.g., long press to activate an accessory)."

That’s a great option!

DSP & Audio Performance

I also noticed that the RCA pre-outs are full range.

Ryan: "Yes! That’s because some bikes have two-channel, some have four-channel, and some even have six-channel setups.

If you have six speakers, you want all channels to be full range, not split into front, rear, and sub.

If we didn't do this, people would have to use Y-connectors, which degrade signal quality."

That’s a huge advantage! And let’s get into the DSP because I just installed this in my bike, and I was able to run four compression horns off deck power.

Ryan: "That’s right! The DSP lets you set custom crossovers—high pass, low pass, and band-pass crossovers—on all channels (not just RCA outputs).

This means you don’t need inline filters (which rob power), so deck power is plenty strong for horn tweeters. You can then run your rear 8s and front 6.5s off an external amplifier."

When I tuned my system, I barely had to adjust anything! The signal from this radio was so flat, I just had to tweak the 500 Hz and 630 Hz bands slightly.

Ryan: "Yep! We designed it for ultimate sound quality.

We make high-end speakers and high-end amplifiers, so we needed a high-end radio to match. The input signal had to be perfect, because garbage in equals garbage out."

That’s the right approach!

Instant Startup & Bluetooth

One thing I love about this radio—it boots up instantly.

Ryan: "Yep! Unlike stock GTS or GT radios (which take forever to start), this radio instantly turns on when you turn the key.

For 2014-2018 riders, this means instant Bluetooth connection—no more waiting for pairing."

That’s a huge plus!

Other Features

Ryan: "This also includes:
Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
USB Fast Charging (2.5A)
Built-in backup camera support
Adjustable screen brightness & color customization"

And no extra modules needed for hand controls—it’s plug and play.

Final Thoughts

This is an awesome radio. The sound quality is top-notch, it has tons of power, and when paired with Diamond Audio amps and speakers, you get crystal-clear sound with deep bass and sharp highs.

Ryan: "Yep, clean signal = clean sound!"

And with factory plug compatibility, installation is super easy.

Ryan: "Exactly! Four screws, one plug, and you're done."

On a Road Glide, I can install this in 20 minutes! Batwing fairings take a little longer, but it’s still straightforward.
