[EASY FIX] Soundstream Harley Radio 98-13 Bat Wing TOO CLOSE to Ignition Switch?

[EASY FIX] Soundstream Harley Radio 98-13 Bat Wing TOO CLOSE to Ignition Switch?

Hey, it's Kevin from Lifestyle Cycles, and I've been getting a ton of questions from guys with bikes from 1996 to 2013 with Batwing fairings about the radio being really close—or too close—to the ignition switch. So I'm going to show you a fix today and explain why you're running into this problem.

First of all, the issue comes from the four side bolts on the triple trees for the fairing, which have really big holes in them. When the bike gets put together, if they’re not pulling the fairing forward when they tighten the bolts down, the fairing could be sitting farther back than on another model bike. You could get a Wednesday bike or a Friday bike; they’re all within the same spec, but one guy might have a problem while another doesn't.

So, I'm just going to show you real quick how to loosen up the four bolts with a T40 Torx on the side of the triple trees, and we'll get through this action.

All right, we’ve got our T40 Torx on my little gun here. We're just going to loosen up the two on this side and then the two on the other side.

Now, I'll just roll the fairing forward. Now I've got well over a quarter of an inch gap, and I'm just going to retighten the bolts. That's it! Now I've got about a quarter of an inch gap between the ignition switch, and everything clears just fine.
