Diamond Audio Amps for Harley Davidson Motorcycles: V2 Series & 8U Series

Diamond Audio Amps for Harley Davidson Motorcycles: V2 Series & 8U Series

All right, stay tuned for some great information on the full line of Diamond Audio amplifier solutions for your motorcycle.

All right, I've got Ryan Klein here from Diamond Audio to go over some great amplifier solutions for your motorcycle—from Harley-Davidson models ranging anywhere from 1996 all the way up to 2023–2024 models. So let's dive right into it. We've got two different lines in either a two-channel or four-channel.

Sure! So, before we get into all the great amplifiers that Diamond covers, I want to introduce Ryan Klein. Ryan, tell me a little bit about what you do, how long you've been doing it, your roles at Diamond, and just give us some background.

Sure! Again, I'm Ryan Klein from Diamond Audio. I'm the West Coast Regional Sales Manager. I’m also the Product Specialist and handle product development for all the motorcycle and Motorsports products for Diamond Audio.

Right! I know you do a great job with it. You and I have known each other a long time, and now that we finally got Diamond in the building, let’s go right into the two different lines we have: the Micros and the U-line, and the Sport Chans.

Sure. So the first line is the V2 series. You can tell it’s all copper with the black logo. This was our first introduction—it’s really what made us famous within the motorcycle community. It's high-power, high-sound quality, and compact design—fits under a fairing. You can get multiple amplifiers under a fairing without modifications, which is great.

Oh, absolutely. The two-channel is 150x2 at 2 ohms, so you're getting real power. And we now make speakers in 2 ohm, so when you're trying to grab the most juice out of your amplifier, that’s the route to go. For a guy with a Batwing fairing—Electra Glide Standard, Street Glide, whatever—who’s not planning on doing rear speakers, this is a great solution without spending the extra money on the four-channel.

Yeah, this is a great amplifier if you need high power. We've already done a ton of them. They work great on the bike and draw hardly any power whatsoever. It's a great solution.

Right, absolutely. Now moving on to the four-channel—this one is 80x4 at 4 ohms and 150x4 at 2 ohms. Again, it's a compact amplifier that fits under the fairing without any modifications. It's high power, and I don't want to deal with anything that goes in the saddlebag.

Yeah, that seemed like the old days. The new days? We're fitting everything under the fairing. This amplifier does great—has all the features you need, including automatic turn-on. So if you don’t have a remote signal, it can be triggered by VOX or DC offset.

That's for the guys running factory radios that don’t have a remote turn-on wire, right?

Exactly. It also takes high-level and low-level input through the RCA. Works great with factory radios. If you’re looking for a high-powered amplifier that sounds good and doesn’t compromise your space, this is a great way to go.

Now on to the big boys. Let’s talk about the 8U Series.

Right! So you can tell the difference between the V2 and the 8U by looking at the top—black with copper accents. The real difference is the 8U has a conformal-coated circuit board, which handles moisture, salt, fog—perfect for the guy who pressure washes his bike.

Yeah! It also has more power than the V2 series—about 30% more. Same inputs, same features—it’s just conformal-coated and more powerful.

Still around the same size as the four-channel, right?

Correct. You can still fit multiple amplifiers under the fairing. The two-channel and four-channel are the same size, which makes it great for installation. Again, these are pretty out-of-control power-wise.

What are the actual power numbers?

The four-channel is rated at 90x4 at 4 ohms, but it’s really closer to 128–130 watts per channel. They're very underrated.

Yeah, I saw that on my oscilloscope and had to double-check the specs.

Exactly! So just remember—this will handle just about any speaker you throw at it.

And if you really want some big power, go with the two-channel: 200x2 at 4 ohms, but realistically closer to 250–300 watts.

Which is great because your speaker line can definitely handle that power. You’re not pushing the amplifier into clipping just to reach the volume levels you want.

Exactly. Whether it’s a four-channel or two-channel setup, if you need more power, both can run multiple amps under the fairing. I know you make some pretty cool mounting brackets too.

Yeah, I've been making stainless brackets for these for probably 15 years. We recently updated the design with new mounting holes. Now all of our plug-and-play install kits come with a bracket—you bolt it in. We’re not into the Velcro stuff. I want it bolted down nice and secure.

Right. And we've already talked about all the DIY harness kits that go along with these. When you go on our website and look at any of these amplifiers, the product page shows you the install kits you need for your specific bike model.

That's awesome.

Yeah! When you pair the amp with the harnesses, installation is seamless. We take all the guesswork out. We do the homework for you.

And if you have any questions, just email or call us. We’ll walk you through building a complete system, even one that’s expandable. We’ll build expandability into it so you don’t have to come back and redo anything or swap out speakers or amps. You'll get it right the first time and do it once.

Well again, thank you for coming out and going over all this. We're actually working on one of the company bikes with one of your big systems right now. I've already got all Diamond on my bike, and this thing is loud—amazing.

Yeah, I heard it earlier today. Sounds great!
