Wondering What Size Klock Werks Windshield You Should Get for Your Street Glide?

Wondering What Size Klock Werks Windshield You Should Get for Your Street Glide?

Stay tuned! Today, we're going to go over a handful of Klock Werks windshields that fit 2014 and up Harley-Davidson touring bikes. For those of you looking to buy a windshield on our online mega store, this video will help you measure out where it sits to your face with your height.

We get a lot of questions about which Klock Werks windshield fits me and my bike the best. In front of me today, I have a 2016 Harley-Davidson Street Glide. I'm 5'6", and Peter here is about 6 feet tall. Together, we're going to be showing you how the windshields look based on our height.

Okay, so besides where the stock Harley sits on my face, let's measure out how high it is from the top of your cluster. Measuring top down, you're at about 3 1/2 inches. If you guys are measuring this from home on your stock Harley, the top of that to the top of your cluster is about 3 1/2 inches.

Now, let's throw on the 4-inch windshield and see how that looks. Now, keep something in mind—if you guys are looking at this stock windshield, you're going to notice something. If I can get it out, you guys will notice something.

With the stock windshield, I want you guys to pay close attention to something very important. See how this windshield is straight? That means it doesn’t really matter the height or the length—it’s blowing wind straight at your face.

Versus the Klock Werks windshield, they have a flare. Guys, these people know what they're doing, and honestly, I'm honored to say that I got to meet the team, hang out with them, and see the masterminds behind this. This flare isn't just there for looks. This flare is meant to get the wind up and over your head versus straight into your eyes.

That's why it's so important that when you're buying this windshield, you're not measuring it out to cover your face. You're measuring it out to actually go right over here, right underneath your eye. That’s where you want the windshield so you're not looking through it and getting distortion. You're looking over it, and Klock Werks is making sure that the wind is going over your head.

Now, something that’s great about these windshields is that they're so easy to install. You slide it right in, and it pops into place. It's probably the cheapest, easiest route to personalize and modify your bike at home. Let's get two screws in now.

Now for the 4-inch windshield—as far as the 4-inch, from the top of the windshield, let's measure down to the top of the cluster. From the top of the windshield to the top of the cluster is exactly 4 inches. If you guys want to measure this at home, this is the best way to do it.

Now, let's compare it to someone who's a bit taller than me. Peter, come have a seat. Peter is 6 feet tall, and he's on a 2016 Street Glide. From the top of the windshield straight out to him, it looks like it's sitting right under his chin at his neckline. Correct? So this would be way too short for Peter. Hop off, buddy.

Let's try a 5-inch windshield for Peter since he's a bit on the taller side. Pop this guy out—no need to force it. They slide right out super easily. Let’s get this 5-inch windshield in.

Now, guys, keep in mind, I know we're using light smoke windshields, and I think it looks great on a black bike. But you might have a blue bike, a green bike—it doesn’t really matter what bike you have because Klock Werks does it all. And I mean that.

We have yellow windshields, orange windshields, green, purple, blue—honestly, name a color, and I promise you, Klock Werks can find it for you.

So, from the top of the 5-inch windshield with a flare to the top of your cluster, it's going to be exactly 5 inches. When you're measuring at home, use a ruler or a measuring tape from the top of your cluster to the very top of the windshield.

Now, let's see how it looks with Peter. Peter, come on and have a seat again. Peter is 6 feet tall. From the center of the windshield to him, it looks like it went a little higher—it's sitting right at his jawline. Still a little too short for him.

Now, we're going to hop from the 5-inch flare windshield with Klock Werks to the 6 1/2-inch, and I have a feeling that might be the one for him.

Get these guys unscrewed. So, as you see right off the bat, you can tell the 6 1/2-inch is a lot longer and higher—definitely not going to be for someone my height. But this one might work out for Peter. Let's get it put in and see how it sits for Peter’s height.

Okay, so we have a 6 1/2-inch flare windshield. From the very top of the windshield down to your cluster, you’re at exactly 6 inches.

Now, let's have Peter come over. Let’s see how it sits with his height.

All right, so again, from the very center straight out to Peter, it looks like we are right under his earlobe and right above his lips. Typically, your ears and your lips should be lined up, but it's okay. At least we kind of figured out where it is on Peter. Pop off.

Now, I don't think that was it. I think we still need to go a little bit higher for Peter. And remember, he's 6 feet tall.

So, let's get this guy taken off. Now, remember, guys, don’t be led astray because this is black. We have them in every color that you could possibly want. Klock Werks knows how to keep all of their riders happy and help them personalize their bikes.

So, from the 6 1/2, we're going to move up to the 8 1/2. Now, this one is obviously way too big for me, but this might actually be the one for Peter since he is a little bit on the taller side.

The top of the 8 1/2-inch flare windshield to the top of your cluster is going to be exactly 7 inches. Now, let’s see where it sits on Peter.

Going from the top of the windshield out straight—that's the one, huh? All right, Peter is about 6 feet tall, and this sits right underneath his eyeline. Don’t be scared! You want it to sit about right here, and that’s the perfect spot because not only is the wind going right over your head, but you don’t have any of that distortion from looking through the windshield—which, honestly, isn’t safe and you don’t want.

Now, there are a lot of riders out there that are taller than Peter. So, for you folks that are over 6 feet tall, I have a solution for you.

Let's get this 8 1/2 off, and I'll show you your solution—the 10 1/2-inch windshield.

Now, for you guys that are super tall out there—my tall riders—if you just can't find a windshield that works for you, Klock Werks has got you covered.

Let’s slide this guy in. Can I please have my test dummy back? Come on and take a seat.

Before we measure it to Peter, though, let’s see what it is from the top of the windshield down. On your 10 1/2-inch windshield, from the very top to the top of your cluster is exactly 9 inches.

Now, as far as where it sits on Peter—oh boy, we went right over his eyes, huh? This would not work for him. Even sitting up, he’s looking through the windshield, and that is not safe.

Guys, I can't say this enough—you don’t want a windshield that’s covering your face. You want to make sure it's lined up to right here.

So, before buying a windshield, pick any color you want, and remember, Klock Werks has that beautiful flare that gets the wind over your head.
