Lifestyle Cycles What We Ride: Donovan
Hey guys, this is Donovan from Lifestyle Cycles. I'm the inventory specialist, and this is my 2014 Iron 883 Sportster. I did a bit of work to it. I have the Performance Machine Stage One jet intake, the TBR pipe that I got from the swap meet for only about 100 bucks (which is a good deal), and the Drag Specialty risers with Sly Fox low bend bars. I prefer a T-bar versus the Ape hangers; I used to have Ape hangers on my bike but changed them up. I have the Roland Sands brass Contour grips, and I redid all the wiring—soldered it, made it shorter, just to make it cleaner. I put the Bunk King California highway bar on and changed the forward controls to mid-controls because I have a lot more control with the mid-controls. I have the step-up lattice stitch seat, and although no motorwork has been done, I also have the LED headlight, new throttle and idle cables, different mirrors from the stock ones, and a custom diamond piece on the back. It's from an old cabinet at home, and I just found a big enough spacer to mount it from the bottom of the fender.
Yeah, I actually just traded this one up for a 2017 Low Rider S with the Screamin' Eagle 110 motor, and I'm pretty excited about it. I love this bike to death, and I even repainted it myself in suede green, an OEM Harley color with a lot of clear coat on it just to make it pop. But I'm sad to actually see it go because it is my first bike, and I basically learned how to do everything myself. With the new Low Rider, I can already feel it's got a lot more power and a lot more umph to it, and I definitely needed that sixth gear versus the Sportster. So, it's going to be sad to see it go, but I hope somebody takes care of it when it gets sold.
So, this is the bike that I traded up for. It's a 2017 Harley-Davidson Low Rider S with the Screamin' Eagle 110 motor. It has the Screamin' Eagle heavy breather intake, the Two Brothers 2-in-1 ceramic black competition S pipe, mid-controls, and the same crash bar that my Sportster had—the Bunk King California highway guard. It’s got 12-inch T-bars, straight T-bars, not a two-piece, an amber headlight along with amber turn signals, and a Performance Machine fork brace, which is pretty expensive for one of these. It has dual disc brakes, but I plan on changing those probably to some Galfer rotors or Brembo, whichever I can afford. This thing is pretty wicked; it’s pretty fast. First gear is a little slow, but once you hit second gear, you’re basically pushing up to 60 mph. The only other things that I want to do to this bike are probably rip into the transmission, put in a Dark Horse crank, add a cam, have it probably tuned by Mickey Cohen Motorsports, and maybe change things like the lifters and some head work if needed. But other than that, this bike is pretty fast, and I'm looking forward to riding it for quite a long time.
So, this is my new ride right now. I hope to see you guys out on the road and hope to see many people at all the events that I'm planning on going to.
