Lifestyle Cycles Product Review: Soundstream V2 Unboxing

"All right, everybody, stay tuned to see what we've got in this box—maybe a couple of ideas.

"Today, we're going to be unboxing the brand new Soundstream V2 radio. We've all been waiting for this thing; we finally got one of the pre-production units. You're wondering why it's in the white box? Well, that's why; they haven't even printed boxes for this thing yet. So, let's go ahead and open it up, and I want to go over some of the great features this radio has that we've been really waiting for.

"It comes with our navigation antenna. This is a full native IGO navigation system, just like OEM cars have. It comes with our harness and our Bluetooth microphone so we can make calls while we're riding down the road. And of course, their boxes are always super snug to keep the product safe—you know how important that is to me.

"All right, so the first thing you're going to notice is this screen. It's an 8.3-inch LCD with 1,000 nit brightness in the screen. It goes full side to side, none of those little bezels on the sides anymore or those little buttons that you can touch. This is full 8.3 inches.

"It's got a wireless headset that works with the Sena, the Cardo, and my preference, the Lexin. So, I just got a dual pack the other day for myself. When we put this in my bike, we're going to go ahead and pair this up so I can see just how well this works.

"Some of the great things about it—the Bluetooth—from the Sena, the Cardo, the Lexin, your iPods, whatever—you can get multiple channels playing through. So, either person can listen to navigation or music, and one person can actually take a phone call right from your radio. No other radios have got this.

"It's got rally mode—some of you guys like this because you get as many bikes in a 300-foot radius all being paired to the same music. If you've got 1,000 bikes, it'll play all 1,000 bikes. So, when you and your crew roll into bike night, one guy plays a song, and everybody else has got it—that's really amazing. You want to make a statement when your crew rolls in; that's where it's at.

"It's got an on-screen speedometer. You will be the loudest on your block with this radio because it's got such a clean processing system in it. There's actually 5.2 volts coming out of the RCAs, which is going to help keep your amplifier from clipping. I always prefer to run RCA out whenever possible because that way I'm getting an unamplified signal going into my amplifier. Amplified signal going in just means you're going to get dirtier sound coming out.

"We do have our two fronts, our two rears, and our two sub outputs.

"A couple of other really neat features about it—it's got a USB-C cable on the back that you can run into your glove box on your 2014 to 2023 Street Glide, Electra Glide, Road Glides. So, you can continue to have the one you've got now for a thumb drive or whatever you're running, whether your phone or your USB-C. If your phone cord uses USB-C, it plugs directly into that. So, when you upgrade to this radio, you're going to be the first guy on the block to have it, which hands down, it's the favorite radio that I've seen yet come out for the factory Harley.

"We've all seen the radios in the past from 2014, the little 4.3-inch screen that got a little bit better with their infotainment center—super long load-up time, really terrible radio. All three of these have terrible sound quality, in my opinion, and a bad EQ curve in them. Even the GTS radio that came out in 2019 through 2023—it did have a bigger display on it, and you could put some adapters on it, whether it be the WIM module or the CarPlay jumper to get CarPlay on it. But still, the sound coming out of it was never really something I enjoyed listening to. Yes, you could flash the radio and get it a little bit better, but it was still nothing like a true aftermarket radio that's got a nice flat EQ curve coming out of it. Plus, you don't have the RCA capability on this, so if you want to try and get it as good as possible, now you're running through a line-level converter on the output to get you to an RCA coming into your amplifier when you've got all that built right in with a cleaner processor and a cleaner signal EQ coming out of this radio right out of the box.

"One of the really great things about this radio is it has fully licensed Android Auto and CarPlay. A couple of other radios out there on the market don't have that; they're not fully licensed. So, when you get this, know it's going to work forever.

"All right, stay tuned. We're going to clean up the shop, bring a bike in, get this thing installed, and show you just how it works. Oh, wait! Don't go anywhere until you like and subscribe to make sure you get notified every time we post our how-to videos, product reviews, and all of our amazing interviews with your favorite racers and industry icons. I'll see you guys next time."
