Lifestyle Cycles: About Our Shop
"I've been in love with motorcycles since I was a little kid. When I was 12 years old, my mother would drive me from town to town. I would buy mini bikes and motorcycles, fix them up, and sell them to kids from all over the neighborhood. I think that's really where I got it in my blood, and it's never left me ever since. I bought my first Harley-Davidson in 1992. It was a black Softail Custom, and I remember the Harley feeling, as I've come to call it today. It was that feeling when I sat in the dealership, started it for the first time, and it's a feeling I will never forget. You can't even tell somebody about it; you have to experience it. The rest of my life, I've tried to duplicate that feeling for other people. I was lucky enough to retire, or semi-retire, at 35. At the time, I had several Harley-Davidsons, and all my friends wanted to join the family, be part of the culture, and experience what I was experiencing and have the fun that I was having. So, they would take me, and we would drive for two or three hours everywhere. When we'd get there, we'd open up their garage, and it would be a pile of junk. So, then the next day, we'd go two hours in the other direction. I can't tell you how many countless hours we spent driving from place to place, looking at garbage. Finally, I started looking in all the local papers for great deals on Harley-Davidsons, and I started buying them. I'd fix them up, and before I knew it, I had 30 Harley-Davidsons, 30 bikes in my house. I had a full-time mechanic, a detailer, a parts person, and you know what? I started realizing, hey, I'm in the motorcycle business. When it came time to actually open the first store, it was natural. There wasn't even a question what I was going to call the company; it was going to be Lifestyle Cycles."
