Kevin did 1,000+ Miles on Legend Suspension Revo Arcs. This is his Review.

Kevin did 1,000+ Miles on Legend Suspension Revo Arcs. This is his Review.

All right, so today I've got Rob here from Legend Suspension. He came all the way down from Canada. Legend is a South Dakota-based company, and he came down to go over some of the finer points of the Legend Suspension we just installed on my bike, which I'll be reviewing.

First, I want to get into some of the questions I had when making the decision with Rob about what makes Legend Suspension so great. I installed the Performance Series front cartridges and the Revo Arcs in the back.

Rob, tell me—what makes these so much better than what I was riding on before? Obviously, I can feel the difference, but can you go into the quality of the parts, the differences, and why they perform better?

What Makes These Better?

Well, first off, I think you got a perfect combination with the Performance Axle cartridges and the Arc rears. That’s a perfect setup. We also make a front-end kit that pairs well with the Revo-A for more comfort-oriented riders.

As for our suspension, it's all handmade in Sturgis, South Dakota. We use high-quality billet parts, and a lot of engineering expertise goes into each product. As you can attest, it's a super comfortable ride, but it also significantly increases performance.

We have compression adjustment up here, rebound adjustment here, and preload adjustment, which you can set without any tools—just spin the collar. We also use spherical bearings, which really improve handling by preventing the swingarm from fighting the shocks.

I'm sure you're familiar with what came off my bike. Let’s talk about those for a moment.

Yeah, so obviously, this is not ideal—you had an adjustable master shock paired with a non-adjustable slave shock. There's only one place for these... Can I get a garbage can, please? You want to do the honors?

Why Reservoirs?

All right, Rob, I handle a lot of customer service calls, emails, Facebook questions, and website chats. I’ve actually had off-road guys asking why my Harley needs reservoirs on the back for the shocks. Can we talk a little about that?

Sure! We offer two versions—the Revo-A, which is a twin-tube shock, and the Revo Arc, which you've chosen, which is a monotube shock.

The Arc shock has adjustable rebound and compression. There's a nitrogen canister here that speeds up response time for the shock. You have seven clicks of rebound adjustment.

So, for example, if you're on the interstate and getting hammered by expansion joints and bridge joints, you can dial it back for a softer, cushier ride. But if you want to carve the canyons, tighten it up, and you’re basically on rails in the corners.

The Arc shock also has a bit more travel than the Revo-A. A 13-inch Revo-A shock has 3 inches of travel, while the 13-inch Revo Arc shock has 3.5 inches of travel.

Adjustability

I love having all the adjustability because I don’t just ride around town or carve canyons—I hit the road for 400-mile trips, go to races, and everything in between. It’s nice to have one set of shocks that can handle everything, whether I’m riding solo, two-up, around town, hot-rodding, or touring. That’s why I bought a touring bike—to do it all.

Absolutely. If you’re adding a passenger or loading up luggage for a trip, adjusting is simple. You just spin the collar to add preload—no tools needed. The more threads you see, the more preload you’re adding.

Right, and I’ve already learned how to adjust everything, which makes a huge difference in comfort, especially for my girl when she's on the back.

The Legend Warranty

Let’s talk about the warranty, because you guys have a great one on the Legend kit.

We pride ourselves on customer service, and we offer a lifetime warranty on our shocks—as long as they’re installed correctly. That’s why it’s important to read the instructions, like you did. We stand behind our products, and they’re 100% made in the United States.

What I love about the lifetime warranty is that it’s not just for the bike—it transfers with the shocks.

Exactly! Just keep your original bill of sale from Lifestyle Cycles. If you upgrade to a 2025 model next year and want to transfer your shocks, you can. As long as the fitment remains the same, your warranty is still valid.

That tells me you’re making a quality product if you’re willing to stand behind it with a lifetime warranty.

Absolutely!

Who Should Upgrade?

I get a lot of questions about who should upgrade their suspension. What are your thoughts?

Personally, I think suspension is one of the most overlooked components on a new Harley. The stock suspension is an afterthought. Every rider can benefit from a proper suspension upgrade.

Whether you're a Sunday rider who just wants a comfortable ride with your wife, or someone looking for a high-performance upgrade, better suspension makes a huge difference.

Half the time when we’re at Daytona or Sturgis, it’s the wife coming to us saying, "I’m sick of getting hammered on these stock shocks!" But performance riders also love the improvements. So really, suspension is for every rider—they just need the knowledge to make the right choice.

I remember you telling me in Milwaukee that when people are unhappy with their stock suspension, the first thing they do is buy a seat. That stuck with me.

Exactly! If your car rides rough, you don’t buy a new seat—you upgrade the suspension! A seat is important, but it’s only part of the equation. If you want real comfort and performance, you need both.

I need my Legend suspension and my saddle—I can’t ride without either!

Kevin’s Review

Kevin, why don’t you tell us about your experience riding these shocks for 1,000 miles?

I think they’re great. I had the option to go any direction, but I went all-in on performance. I considered the Comfort up front, but I was told they stiffen up in the corners and become more performance-oriented when pushed. I’m a bit of a hot-rodder—been known to do a wheelie from time to time—so I went full performance.

I love how easy it is to make adjustments. It’s a noticeable difference when you do. In seconds, you can change the bike from comfortable touring mode to a performance machine.

I’ve ridden on many different shocks over my 46 years of riding, and I really love the package you guys put together. I also love that I can color-match the reservoirs to my bike. They look great!

Final Thoughts

In addition to these bagger shocks, you guys make Revo shocks for baggers, a full line of air shocks, front and rear suspension, monoshocks for FXRs, Sportsters, Softails, Touring models, and even trikes. You’ve got something for every rider.

Exactly!

Now, let's talk about the limitations of my stock suspension. What do you think I’ve gained with the Legend kit?

Stock suspension sucks. You see railroad tracks or a pothole coming, and you tense up. That was the first thing I noticed—after installing the Legends, I hit a set of railroad tracks, and instead of jarring my spine, the bike just floated right over.

The damping and compression adjustments make a night-and-day difference. I still tense up out of habit when I see a pothole, but the suspension absorbs it. It’s muscle memory, but it’ll fade over time.

Exactly! You’ve got many more years of riding ahead, and now you’ve got a setup that keeps you comfortable.

Thank you so much, Rob, for making the 25-hour trip down here! Now you have to drive all the way back—but with winter coming, you might not want to.

Nope, I’m staying!
