Lifestyle Cycles Product Review: Simpson Outlaw Bandit 3 (Carbon Fiber)

"Hey y'all, it's Kevin here at Lifestyle Cycles, and it's Atousa! We finally have the Simpson Outlaw Bandit 3 Carbon Fiber in stock. We're among the first in the country to get our hands on it, so let's open it up and check this beauty out. I'm so excited! Oh my God, Kevin, it's actually carbon fiber! It's not just for show. You know what that means? What's that? It might actually help you get a girlfriend! It's about time! Please put it on. You look so cool covering my ugly mug up."

"Nice! Wow, this thing fits great! Wow, it fits my head perfectly! How's the visibility? Visibility is excellent. I can see all the way out to here. Can you still see me? I can see you. You still see me, creeper? Creeper! See me? No. I like the way it doesn't pinch my ears or anything. The cheek pieces feel really nice. You can change them out too if they get too thick. Or yeah, I noticed that. They just velcro in."

"Wow, snapping stuff! I heard in the visor, so when it's in the fully lowered position, you can actually pop it into place, and that locks it down. But what's really great about this helmet is they made the detents really deep. So it's very aggressive in moving through the different positions. I would imagine, you know, you get this thing out on the freeway at posted speeds or maybe a little above, you can have this in a certain position, and the wind's not going to flip it open on you. So I really like how positive and aggressive that detent system is in this. That would make me feel a lot more secure versus my visor flying around. And also, isn't it DOT and Snell? It is both DOT and Snell. So, you know, if you go down with this helmet, you're going to be safe. You know, we all know how important the decision is to go to a full-face helmet, but this takes it to another level."

"They talk about just how much lighter this is than the previous model. So, we've got one. Let's check it out. I don't know if I believe it, but we'll see. Oh my God! That's noticeably different! What a difference! I've ridden with this helmet before, and it felt nice, but boy, take that extra weight off of there. That's amazing! And of course, since it's Simpson, you've got the option of so many different visor choices. You know what they all are, don't you? Oh yeah, dude. I can match them all with my outfit. So we've got dark smoke, for example, here. We've got light smoke in case the dark's a little too dark for you. We have yellow, we have amber, we have blue. Literally, any outfit I'm wearing, my helmet's cool enough to match it. Any color I wrap my bike, it's matching."

"Wait, Kevin, what about sizing? I'm an extra-small, you're a 2X. The great thing about Simpson is they've got all six sizes in between there, so anybody can wear one of these helmets. And you can also change out the cheek inserts if it's a little snug or a little loose on you. We'll get you all fitted up. Let's go for a ride!"

"All right, so we took advantage of the Southern California sunshine yesterday after we finished talking about this helmet. And it was really awesome for me. I normally either wear a half helmet or a modular helmet so I can smoke a cigar while riding. Full-face isn't exactly my normal preference. However, this thing was really nice going down the road. What did you think of yours?"

"See, honestly, I'm loyal to full-face. That's all I wear. And I will say, the number one biggest thing I noticed right off the bat is this one is one of the quietest full-faces I've ever ridden with. I noticed that as well. It was nice and peaceful inside the helmet. I didn't hear you chattering back there or anything like that. So that was kind of cool."

"That's why you were ignoring me. Oh, it wasn't intentional, I promise. Okay, well, besides that, the second thing I really noticed is, I'm a smaller rider. I don't have the most burly neck. So wearing this, it actually didn't hurt me as much as full-faces do. It was a lot lighter, so it made it more comfortable. Turning, I wasn't stiff the whole time trying to keep my neck straight."

"No, I get it. And I liked the way the carbon fiber really ties in with the way that so many of the bikes are going these days with carbon fiber parts and things like that. I'm looking at doing some of that stuff on my own bike and looking forward to how this carbon fiber will tie into that. How exciting! I'm excited to see you on the bike with the parts and the helmet."

"Yeah, there we go! So, if you guys are in the market for a new helmet or you just want to add one to your collection, if you're in the region, come on by. I'll get you sized up myself, we'll get you in a new helmet. If not, in the caption below, you'll have a link to a video that'll teach you how to size yourself. And honestly, if you have a Simpson, you know your size. Hop online and order one. It'll be right at your door."

"That's awesome. I don't expect that first pal that we got lasting very long for us. Oh no, probably not even till the end of the week. Right on!"

"Oh, wait! Don't go anywhere until you like and subscribe to make sure you get notified every time we post our how-to videos, our product reviews, and all of our amazing interviews with your favorite racers and industry icons. I'll see you guys next time!"
